Top 10 Best movies of 2016

Here is my personal list of the my favorite movies of 2016.  The films that I found to be absolutely amazing and the movies that I will definitely be watching in the future!

#10:  The Magnificent Seven

The Magnificent Seven was one of the most refreshing action movies I have seen in all of 2016.  The action was fucking amazing and also pretty brutal for a PG-13 movie.  The performances was also fantastic, Chris Pratt and Denzel Washington being the standouts.  If you want to see a shoot em' up action film that is fun and well written, give it a watch!

#9:  Zootopia

Zootopia is my in my opinion, the best Disney animation to come out in many, many years!  I loved every minute of this movie, it was smart, clever and surprisingly hilarious!  This is one of the best kids movies you could have ever watched through 2016 and it's definitely my favorite kids movie of 2016.

#8:  Hacksaw Ridge

This movie was a gut punch!  I genuinely mean it!  Mel Gibson's Hacksaw Ridge is a brutal, gory, violent, and fucking masterful film!  Andrew Garfield gives a performance that is so great, that it just may be his best performance in his entire career!  This is not for the squeamish though, so if you don't like extreme gore and violence, don't watch Hacksaw Ridge, but for the rest, see it, it's awesome!

#7: The Conjuring 2

The Conjuring 2 is not only my favorite horror film of 2016, it is even better than the first one, and I never thought James Wan could top the first film, but he did, and it's a masterwork in horror!  It was intense, suspenseful, everything I want in a horror film!

#6:  Star Trek Beyond

Star Trek Beyond continues on being awesome with the already epic reboot Star Trek films!  Not only is the action just as amazing here as in the previous 2 films, but this movie also takes you back to how the original Star Trek series was!  When you can mix the intriguing stuff from the original Star Trek series with the action-packed epicness of the new Star Trek films, you get a pretty sweet movie, and Star Trek Beyond is definitely that!

#5:  The Nice Guys

Now we get to what I think is the most underrated film of 2016!  The Nice Guys is one of the best blends of action and comedy that I have seen in a long time, probably since The Other Guys!  The Nice Guys was a witty, hilarious movie with superb performances and if you haven't seen it, do yourself a favor, you have no idea what you're missing!

#4:  Doctor Strange

Doctor Strange is one of the most unique films that I have ever seen in the MCU!  It's magical, action-packed, exciting and quite funny too!  I loved Stephen Strange's Tony Stark like personality, it really lightened up this otherwise pretty dark film, it added a lot of really good humor!  Doctor Strange is definitely not a movie to skip!

#3:  Sausage Party

If I could think of an animated film that is a lot smarter than it sounded, I never thought Sausage Party would be one of them!  Sausage Party has a lot of brains to it, and a lot of delightfully raunchy laughs!  Sausage Party is as naughty as you think it is, and I loved every minute of it!  It's not for the kids though!  It is my favorite animated film of 2016.

#2:  Captain America: Civil War

Captain America: Civil War is not only a great summer action flick, it is also a very great story about friendship and vengeance, and how if those things go together, things will go very wrong!  All the characters were handled well, especially Spider-Man!  The action was exciting and expertly done, and the story always held my interest, there was never a dull moment in this really kick-ass movie!  Captain America: Civil War is the silver medal winner of 2016, and it definitely would have won gold if another movie had not come out in 2016!

#1:  Deadpool

So, what movie exactly did bring down Civil War to the #2 spot you may ask, well I will tell you, it's to another comic book movie, and that is muthafuckin' Deadpool!  Deadpool is one of the funniest, and well written superhero movies I have ever seen!  Deadpool never held back with anything, and man did it pay off!  This movie came out back in February 2016 and not one movie has managed to top it!  Civil War was the closest to it, but when I think of the movie that had me engaged the most, had the most fun with, and had me excited and laughing the most, Deadpool is definitely that movie!

So that was my list, hope you enjoyed it, and I will be writing my other extremely late list fairly, and I promise not to be super late with my 2017 lists! lol

The Amazing Spider-Man - movie review

I am in the mood to talk about a bad movie right now, so I am going to review The Amazing Spider-Man, the worst Spider-Man movie ever made! Yes, it's worse than Spider-Man 3! And guess what people, get pissed off, I enjoyed Spider-Man 3, it's not a great film, but it was a very enjoyable film! Even though I do think of this movie as a bad, disappointing film, there are 3 things that I liked about it. First of all, the chemistry between Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy was not that bad at all, when there was action in this movie, the action was really good (for the most part), and when Andrew Garfield was being Spider-Man, he was okay! Now for the meat of this review, the negatives! Okay, so remember when I said Andrew Garfield was okay as Spider-Man? He was, he was likable as Spider-Man, but when he is just being Peter Parker, oh boy, he was fucking awful! He is a douchebag, there was never a scene in the entire movie that gives us a reason to like Peter Parker, he is also a stalker, and he also acts like he has a hangover in almost every scene he is in. Now I said the action is really good, but I also said for the most part. There is almost no action in the first 94 minutes of this movie and the first couple action moments (that's right, MOMENTS! It takes 94 fucking minutes to get to the first real action sequence in this movie!) were dull and flat! This is not a colorful movie, this is a really colorless movie, and for a character as colorful as Spider-Man, that's pretty sad. Now remember how quippy Spider-Man is? Remember how Spider-Man likes to tell jokes? Not in this movie, despite how likable Spider-Man was, there was only 1 scene in this entire movie that had him telling jokes! 1....fucking....scene! Let's talk about character development, what character development? I love Emma Stone, but what the hell, she is given nothing to work with here, her character is not developed whatsoever. Lizard in this movie is by far one of the worst developed villains in ANY of the Spider-Man movies! He has absolutely zero motivations for him being a bad guy, and his plan is one of the most hilariously idiotic plans I have ever witnessed in a superhero movie! Another problem I had with this movie was Spider-Man's suit! It looked like shit! And I have heard people argue that he was poor, how could he afford a really nice suit? Well if he was so poor, how could he afford material for his webs that is so strong that it could damage property with ease and also hold up vehicles that are falling off a bridge without it ever ripping? I think if he can afford that shit, he can easily afford a much better suit! Now for the ending, so in the comics, Gwen Stacy's dad wanted Peter to protect Gwen, but in this movie, her father wants Peter to stay away from her, what the fuck? I am not one to say that changes from source material is a bad thing because good adaptations do change shit from the source material to make it their own thing, but this specifically was not a good change because one reason, it turned out to be pointless right at the closing scene, and another reason, there is a lot of cringy bullshit involving that shit in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
In the end, The Amazing Spider-Man was a terrible film, a lot of people seem to enjoy it for some reason, but for me personally, it comes close to being garbage, and the only reason I am not giving it an F is because of the very few redeeming qualities it has.

Grade: D
Run time: 136 minutes
MPAA: PG-13 for sequences of action and violence
Studio: Sony/Columbia Pictures, Marvel Entertainment
